Jesus’ confrontation with the religious leaders was over their corruption of God’s worship, and their confrontation with Jesus was due to their indignation at His goodness.

Main Idea: “We become heirs of salvation through union with Christ, by faith, and not by law-keeping.”
1. We are heirs by faith because of the relation of the promise to the law
2. We are heirs by faith because of the nature of the promise, that it was made to Christ.
3. Faith makes us heirs in Christ and through Christ
Main Idea: “Don’t be misled by relying on the works of the law for justification.”
1. Because of the Holy Spirit’s work
2. Because of what the Old Testament Scriptures say
Main Idea: “Beware of walking out of step with the gospel, because it implies that the grace of God is needless and the death of Christ was pointless.”
1. Acting as though justification is through the law makes the grace of God needless.
2. Acting as though justification is through the law makes the death of Christ pointless.
